Edmonton Oilers: The Official National Hockey League Team

About the Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Western Conference's Pacific Division.

Team History

The Oilers were founded in 1972 as one of the NHL's six expansion teams. They quickly became one of the most successful teams in the league, winning five Stanley Cups in the 1980s. The Oilers were led by a core group of players known as the "Edmonton Oilers dynasty," which included Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, and Paul Coffey.

After a decline in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Oilers regained prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s, reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006 and 2007. The team has since struggled to maintain consistent success, but they remain one of the most popular teams in the NHL.

Roster and Statistics

The Oilers' roster features a mix of young talent and veteran leadership. Some of their key players include Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, and Evan Bouchard. The team is coached by Jay Woodcroft.

The Oilers have a strong record in the regular season, but they have struggled in the playoffs in recent years. They have not won a playoff series since 2017.

Home Arena and Fan Base

The Oilers play their home games at Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton. The arena has a capacity of 18,347 and is one of the most modern and well-equipped in the NHL.

The Oilers have a large and passionate fan base in Edmonton and throughout Alberta. The team is known for its passionate atmosphere and its loyal fans.
