On the occasion of Eid Al Mawlid, King Mohammed VI pardoned 638 prisoners, including 90 women. The royal pardon, issued on Friday, aims to promote values of mercy and the spirit of solidarity prevailing during the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Justice said in a statement. The pardoned prisoners were serving sentences ranging from one to 10 years for various offences. They include 102 people convicted of terrorism-related charges. The royal pardon is a common practice in Morocco on special occasions such as religious holidays and national events.
