England Women Lose Out To Ireland In T20 Opener

England's T20 Losing Streak Continues In Ireland Opener

England's wait for a Twenty20 victory continues after they crashed to a four-wicket defeat to Ireland in Dublin.

Despite England posting 141-5, their bowlers were unable to contain the hosts, who cruised to their target with 15 balls to spare.

Clinical Ireland Chase Down England Total With Ease

The England innings was built around captain Heather Knight's 53 from 41 balls, while Alice Capsey added 27 and Maia Bouchier made 24.

In reply, Ireland's chase was led by opener Gaby Lewis, who made a rapid 29 from 19 balls.

Orla Prendergast (25), Laura Delany (26 not out) and Eimear Richardson (24 not out) also made useful contributions as Ireland completed a comfortable victory.

England's Losing Streak Now Stands At Four Matches

The defeat means England have now lost four Twenty20 matches in a row, following a 3-0 series defeat to India in July.

It is a disappointing start to a busy summer for England, who face New Zealand in a multi-format series next month before hosting the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August.

Reaction: Knight Frustrated By Lack Of Execution

Speaking after the match, Knight admitted that England were frustrated by their lack of execution.

"We didn't execute our skills as well as we would have liked," she said.

"We bowled too many loose balls and we didn't take our chances in the field.

"We need to be better than that if we want to be successful this summer."
